After climbing V9 and Rolling then spending the afternoon hunkered down in the tent waiting for a weather window, we made a run for Beattie and V8.
The skies were blue and the clouds weren't theatening. However after an hour and a half of hiking another storm came in. We were just below the Fuller-Beattie saddle when a loud thunder clap echoed above us and there was a flash. We immediately turned back. However 10 minutes later we could see that the storm was small and that the weather would soon clear. So we turned around yet again and headed for Beattie's summit.
Climbing Beattie's north ridge went quickly and we were soon on the summit. Given there was low visibility we headed straight for V8. The ridge started out fairly narrow but not technical. With drops on either side it was a little spooky to be traversing with such low visibility. However before we knew it the storm clouds passed and it was beautiful again. The ridge was fun and went at class 2+... although we did need to be careful given the rocks were slick from the rain.
Descending V8's south ridge was a pain... some of the more tedious terrain I have desended.... not dangerous... just tedious. It took about 20 minutes to get to the bottom where it was smooth sailing back to camp.
We hiked out the next morning

Looking back to the sea of scree we ascended to gain the Fuller-Beattie saddle
From Beattie's summit we started the 0.75 mile ridge to V8. The ridge was narrow and fun and a little spooky in the fog
About halfway across the ridge it cleared up and V8 came into view
