This was an awesome loop with views, mining history, a cool out and back ridge run and a spicy gully.
Was fun to meet up with Eddie(Mtnman200) and his son Randy(RandyMack) for a good portion of this outing. If I remember correctly Eddie completed the tri-centenials and has almost doubled up on the bi-centennials. Randy completed the bi-centennials in 2020. In addition Eddie's father Larry is a peak bagger himself making for three generations of Mack climbers... very cool!
Also did an out and backover Wood to PT13708 on 10/18/2023 with Kristi. Turns out I missed PT13708 when I did the loop :-o. It is commical how close I was looking at the GPX file.

Wood Mountain(R) - Animas Forks(L) from Cinnamon Pass
Looking back to Cinnamon Pass while hiking Wood's SE ridge
Morning light on Cinnamon Pass. Handies and American Basin in the distance
Wood Mountain's north ridge
A storm behind Animas Forks Mountain would pass without incident.
Looking back to Wood Mountain through some minor flurries
We would not take this ridge to PT13688. Instead we dropped down into Hurrican Basin on the left and up a spicy gully to 13688's summit
Animas Forks Mountain on the left. We dropped into Hurricane Basin(to the left) at the yellow rock on the saddle
Looking into Hurricane Basin and 13688
Rainbow on Gravel Mountain's west shoulder.
The spicy 3/4 gully we took to 13688's summit. Put on your helmet and be careful not to knock anything on climbers below.... especially near the top.

Sneffels and Yankee Boy peaks from 13688. Seigal Mountain in the foreground
ummmm.... yeah!
Wood Mountain from 13688
L2R: Coxcomb, Wetterhorn, Uncompahgre from 13688
Instead of descending the spicy gully we opted to traverse to Gravel and then back down into Hurricane Basin
Looking back to 13688 from Gravel
If you look closely you can see some old mining structures in the basin below
We found the old mining cabins nicely restored. Randy being a mining junkie was stoked to tour each of the structures.
Except for this one. Next stop Seigal Mountain top center
Randy on Seigal's south ridge. Animas Forks Mountain above the lake was next on the list
From Seigal's summit looking east to Wood and 13688. That gully we climbed sure looks steep from here!
Hello Yankee Boy!
Wetterhorn
Pano: L2R: Gravel, PT13688, Wood, Animas Forks. The high point in the center is just an extension of Wood's west ridge and is not a peak in and of itself
I would do an out and back on this fun ridge to the summit of Animas Forks Mountain
Out and....
back
Summit of Animas Forks Mountain
After returning from Animas Forks I took the first opportunity to drop down into the basin SW of Wood Mountain and back to the truck
